Anthropic just released a bombshell survey of 500 technical leaders — and the results are remarkable, with 80% reporting real ROI!

The leading use case remains software development (90% adoption), followed by data analysis/reporting (60%) and internal process automation (48%).

That sequencing is deliberate: virtually every company starts with coding agents (where success is fastest and clearest), then systematically expands into supply chain, financial planning, customer service, and operations.

What stands out most to me is that, try as I might, I can't find a catch in the survey or data.

Unlike many enterprise AI surveys that lean on “promising pilots” or “future potential,” Anthropic’s data shows concrete bottom-line impact today.

For context, OpenAI’s enterprise GenAI report (see yesterday's post) didn’t mention ROI once.

The question has shifted from “Should we invest in agents?” to “How quickly can we scale what’s already working?”
